Retired Chief Petty Officer Paul Harless was our take charge Officer for the
deck force aboard the USS John Rodgers DD574 during WW2. All we aboard
the Jolly R knew we could rely on Chief Harless for any operations as well as
personal help, at any time. He was always there when we needed him.

on board with President Roosevelt.
Paul later served aboard the USS John
Rodgers as our fearless deck force leader.
